Based on Statoil's (now Equinor) giant 'eternity machine', Troll A, which has produced natural gas since 1996 and is expected to produce gas for at least 60 more years, the site tell a number of different stories that support Statoil's role as a high-tech, sturdy, well-established and long-term supplier of a product Europe really needs. The journey starts in outer space and zooms in all the way down to the carbon atom.
Even though the target audience for this site was defined as the "informed elite" and specifically British and EU leaders, that didnt mean the site had to look like a word document. We purposely went in the opposite direction to best tell the story of Statoils Gas Machine off the west coast of Norway. Extensive use of storytelling with 3d and interactive elements made it a complete visual journey. A minimal linear navigation, with the option to jump back and forth emphasized the focus on the story.
The project has been awarded numerous of design awards both nationally and internationally. In Norway it won the Norwegian Design Councils "Merket for God Design" and was even nominated for the honorary award.
